Understanding the Hormonal Cause of Menstrual Pain

THEmenstrual pain(dysmenorrhea) andheavy flow(menorrhagia) are often a reflection of ahormonal imbalance.

However, the menstrual cycle relies on a delicate balance between two main hormones: estrogen and progesterone. These hormones play a central role in preparing and maintaining the uterine lining.

THEEstrogen prepares the uterus for a possible pregnancyby thickening the uterine lining, while theprogesteronemaintains this thickening andprepares the body for embryo implantation.

An imbalance between these two hormones can lead to various discomforts.

Excess estrogen

An excess of estrogen relative to progesterone can lead to excessive growth of the uterine lining (endometrium).

During menstruation, the contraction of the uterus to expel this thickened endometrium can cause intense pain and cramps.

Consequences of progesterone deficiency

A lack of progesterone can result in heavy and prolonged menstrual flow because there is not enough of this hormone to regulate the thickening of the uterine lining.

The result is thicker, harder-to-shed mucus, leading to heavy and prolonged menstrual bleeding.

Cyclendo helps restore this balance with carefully selected herbs, vitamins and minerals.
